Γεια σε όλους!
The Premier League is starting to settle down now and the table is beginning to take on a more familiar look and the matches continue to come thick and fast.
We have a full set of fixtures this weekend and begin proceedings with a huge game at Goodison Park in the 12.30 kick off on Saturday. Merseyside derbies are the kind of games where form normally goes out the window but on this occasion, I think form will very much come into the reckoning.
Liverpool will be buoyed by their late, late win against Newcastle United on Wednesday and whilst Everton secured their third consecutive 1-1 draw on Tuesday night, I’m struggling to make a case for anything but a Liverpool win. I’m going for a 3-1 win to Jurgen Klopp’s side in this one.
In the three o’clock kick offs on Saturday, I fancy home wins all the way:
Brentford to beat Leeds United 1-0;
Chelsea to beat an improving West Ham 2-0;
Newcastle United to eke out a 1-0 win against an impressive Crystal Palace;
Nottingham Forest to bounce back from their drubbing at the hands of Manchester City with a 2-1 win against Bournemouth;
Tottenham to beat high-flying Fulham 2-0 and
Wolves to win a 1-0 in a closely contested game against Southampton.
The final game on Saturday is the teatime kick off between Aston Villa and Manchester City. Villa have endured a difficult start to the season and I’m sure the last thing they want right now is to have to stop the Manchester City and Erling Haaland juggernaut!
City are looking unstoppable at the minute and with Haaland having already scored nine goals in his first five Premier League matches, as well as new signing Julian Alvarez joining the goal-scoring party on Wednesday night, it could be a very difficult afternoon for the Villans. I’m going for a 3-1 away win to Pep Guardiola’s men in this one.
Just the two games on Sunday and I am going for Brighton to build on their great start to the season with a 2-1 home win against a struggling Leicester City and then, the weekend fixtures end with another big game between two giants of the Premier League. Neither Arsenal or Manchester United may be at the levels they were from 1996 to 2004 when one or the other won the title, to the exclusion of all others but both teams are re-building and their managers are doing their best to bring back the glory days to their respective clubs.
Certainly Mikel Arteta is winning that particular race, as Arsenal have started their League campaign with five straight wins and sit proudly at the top of the table. However, football is a funny old game and in what will be Manchester United’s first home game since they kick-started their season with a win over Liverpool, I just fancy the Red Devils to pick up all three points. I’m going for a 2-1 win to United.
